embarcadero

After some soul-searching, this is the future of Grace Undressed:

This blog will remain at this site indefinitely, accessible to anyone. I also have a new blog, where I will be doing most of my writing from now on. Not saying I won't pop up here once in a while, but my life is weirder and darker than before, and requires a greater degree of privacy, in keeping with which, the new blog will be members only, available by subscription.

I commit to posting on the new blog no less than once a week, for not less than one year. I haven't got the ghost of an idea what I'll be doing a year from now -- my life now is a maze of temporary solutions -- but you will know as soon as I do.

General Public: A subscription is $25 -- the price of one lap-dance and one drink, or about what you would pay for a hardback copy of my book if I wrote a book, only this is more fun because I don't know the ending any better than you do. You can subscribe by making a donation to my PayPal account -- bright yellow button located over there in the side bar.

IMPORTANT: An invitation will be sent to the address registered with your PayPal account. So, if this address is not correct, please include the correct address in the message PayPal allows you to send with your donation.

Facebook Friends: Subscriptions are available to my imaginary friends at a reduced fee of $15 -- the paperback price.

Students, Artists, Sex-workers, and Sweet Young Things: It wouldn't be a party without you, so a number of slots are reserved with you guys in mind. Give what you can and/or write to me at graceundressed at g mail d0t c0m and tell me why you want to read. It will help if you a) have been a regular commenter in the past b) have a kick-ass blog of your own and/or c) spell and punctuate your e-mail carefully.

I hope to see you at the party. To those of you who cannot or choose not to subscribe, it has been great having you along and I wish you all the best. Maybe I'll publish a book one day and we can catch up then.

Peace. Namaste.

Grace

seems reasonable Grace, perhaps this is the future of this kind of intimate journalism. I do hope that you will post regularly, because I was just getting hooked (easy to do when filling up on a regular diet of archived posts) and I was really starting to need more of them!

So, I just write you at the email address you posted and you can direct me as to how to pay for this?

And you're right. This is the same cost as two Patron Silver's with lime. Not bad!

Grace, I have a sort of pay-per-view suggestion for this new members-only site.

You see, I love your writing, and have greatly enjoyed reading your blog. I would like to continue to do so. But I'm not sure I want to drop $25 for the promise of 1 post per week for 1 year. So here's my suggestion, do with it what you will:

Post a free preview of each post (maybe the leading paragraph only) on this site, and then charge for access to the complete post. That way people who aren't sure if they want to play can get a little teaser that might make buying a single visit or a full membership more enticing.

Just a thought.

In truth, I probably would buy a subscription, but as I'm about to enter law school, I'm not sure how much time I will have to read anything non-law-related.

Viel Glueck!

I like your suggestion, and have thought about it, but it would seem to involve a lot of complication book-keeping and site design and fancy applications I know nothing about. I've tried to make different levels of membership available -- you would totally qualify as a student, and I'd love to have you -- because I truly want anyone who wants to keep reading to be able to do so. But I know that more casual readers will fall by the wayside, and that's fine. In fact, it's kind of the point. :)

Hi Grace,

Would you still get my email address if I made the payment to your Paypal account using my credit card? That would be my preferred method, but I wanted to check, first.

Looking forward to your new blog.

PS

I think this is a great idea, and a perfectly reasonable price to be part of the audience.

What you're doing is much more interesting to me than most film, theatre, tv, performance art, and 90% of books on the market.

I believe that if your e-mail is registered with PayPal, then they will send it on to me. To make sure, though, you can write me at graceundressd at gmail and let me know it's on.

There are a few of you who've subscribed and been invited and have not yet confirmed your subscription. If you think you should have received an invitation by now and haven't, write to me so we can make it right.

Wait, What happened to C? Did I miss it? I feel like a huge chunk of plot was left unfinished.

I've been reading your blog on and off like a book for the past month. I feel a little late, but you are an extremely talented writer and I can't wait to subscribe to your new blog as soon as I can afford it.
